 Mother's Day is a day dedicated to our dear mothers, a day when we can express our gratitude for everything they've done for us. 

Despite the fact that Mother's Day is a day to thank our mothers, it has now become a day for businesses to profit from, just like any other special holy day. Mother's Day, in my opinion, is unnecessary. Mother's Day has become less of a day of appreciation and more of a day of "making money," which is completely wrong in more ways than one. Mother's Day, in my opinion, should not have been a thought, because appreciating our mothers should be a daily occurrence. Creating a day to honor our mothers created numerous opportunities for businesses.

The resilience

The Philippines had been through its fair share of calamities. From earthquakes, typhoons to flooding and even draughts. All of these things has happened more than it needs to. Due to the Philippines geographical location, in which generally produce heavy rains and flooding a large area, as such it is needed that our country is resilient, to be ready at all times. It is very important to regain what was lost as fast as possible, because we don’t know when will the next calamity will occur. If ever we are unable to regain what has been lost during the calamity right away or worst, never at all. It will be fatal to the people residing within the confined of the are. So for that to not become possible we need to act fast, secure and accordingly.

Ferdinand Magellan landed on the Philippines islands in 1521 and claimed them for Spain. Magellan demanded that all local chiefs submit to Spanish rule, but one of them, Lapu Lapu , refused. Magellan attempted to crush Lapu Lapu , but failed and was killed.   The Spaniards finally gained a foothold in the Philippines when Miguel Lopez de Legazpi led an expedition in 1565.
