Illustration by: http://roxascity.gov.ph/march-is-womens-month/ Woman empowerment is important in a society that is not as welcome to the idea of equality as ours. Empowering women does not just benefit our society but it also benefits the women we’re empowering, making them feel appreciated by those around them. I as a son of a single mother, appreciate her sacrifices.    My mother, Rita P. Orio   A single mother of 1 for the entirety of her parenthood. To me, my mom is a hero, she sacrificed 20 years of her life to ensure that her parents have a dissent life, 16 years of that ensuring my life was full of content. I could only imagine her pain she’s feeling not seeing her son in person for 14 and a half years, being able to hold me when I was little and go sick but despite not feeling any physical affection from my mom, I appreciate her sacrifices and love my mother with all my heart   My aunt, Ligaya O. PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

Photo: mundissima | Shutterstock.com   The possibility to get a kid vaccinated has prompted some parents to rush to schedule an appointment for their child, while other parents have concerns. With 76 percent of the population having gotten at least one COVID-19 immunization, the focus has switched to how the authorities can safeguard the children under the age of five.   Children, like adults and teenagers who have COVID-19, can spread the virus while they are asymptomatic. COVID-19 can affect anybody at any age, with symptoms ranging from mild to severe. Children are at danger of getting and transmitting the virus, especially the highly virulent omicron strain. Vaccinating your children lowers their chances of contracting COVID-19, which can help them from being ill. This means they'll be able to stay in scho...

Japanese planes also bombarded the American Far East Air Force's important sites in Manila, as well as the US Central Command. The Asiatic Fleet is stationed in the Philippines. A large number of American planes were shot down. The US Asiatic Fleet moved south after withdrawing its ships from their naval station in Cavite. The only force remaining to combat the Japanese was the submarine force.   Officials in charge of Bataan, where Filipino and American soldiers were the major opposition in the struggle against the Japanese, publicly surrendered on April 9, 1942. Today, we remember and honor our dead warriors from the Battle of Bataan, as well as our modern-day heroes.

https://www.christianity.com/wiki/holidays/what-is-lent-meaning-history-tradition-lenten-season.html   Lent is a season that many people dread. Giving up candy or going through weekly Stations of the Cross are two childhood recollections that spring to mind right away. Words like "sacrifice," "discipline," and "self-denial" are frequently employed in ways that imply that Lent is a period of suffering rather than grace and spiritual progress.   The Lenten Season is also a time when we reflect on our lives and consider whether our values are in line with one of God's goals for us. Because most of us stray from God's path, Lent serves as a second chance, or do-over, to "return to God with our full heart." Have you ever considered Lent as a once-a-year second chance? We're spotlighting those who have shared their Lenten traditions and memories with us. Their stories range from the religious and conventional to the innovative and unusual...
